A number of great poems have been inspired by great works of art. To provide a fresh look at this influence, there will be a special poetry presentation on Thursday, Feb. 7, 7 p.m., at Stratford Public Library.
Bob Phillips of the Art Gallery of Ontario will explore the intersections between language and image communication. He will examine poems by various international writers, who glean inspiration from visual artworks.
Specific writing strategies will be offered, as well as new ways of looking into art.
Phillips is a resident of Stratford who retired in 2011 after 30 years of teaching. He is currently employed part-time by the Art Gallery of Ontario as education officer for teacher programs. In addition, he has been a sessional professor in the Art & Art History program at the University of Toronto and has served as chair of the Arts Education Council of Ontario
Admission to the presentation is free.
