I am currently looking for host families for a group of Colombian students that will be attending LDSS and Wallace Public for the month of October (arrive Oct. 6, depart Nov. 3). Families are paid $125/week to cover the costs of room and board. The students have after school activities planned three days a week and full day excursions every Saturday. Leslie Motors and the Teeswater Minor Hockey Association are partnering to help raise up to $6,000 in support of the association as part of Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited’s Drive One 4 UR Community program. Members of the Teeswater, Harriston, Walkerton and Wingham-area communities, and surrounding communities, will have the opportunity to raise money for the school by test-driving a Ford vehicle. For every person who test-drives a Ford Escape, Focus, F-150 and other available models at this one-day event, Ford of Canada and Leslie Motors will donate $20 to the Teeswater Minor Hockey Association to help with ice time, uniforms and other necessary resources. Each test-drive will last approximately 7 - 10 minutes. Participants must be 18 or older and have a valid driver’s license. Limit one test-drive per household. There will also be a BBQ during the event.

Adults with High Cholesterol Needed for University of Guelph Muffin Nutrition Study We are currently recruiting adults (35-70 years old) with high cholesterol but not taking cholesterol medication to participate in a Muffin Nutrition Study that is being run out of the University of Guelph. The study involves 6 weeks of consuming 2 muffins per day (made from soy or wheat flour). Participants will visit the University of Guelph each week to pick up their muffins and will have body measurements and blood samples at weeks 1, 3 and 6. Financial compensation is provided.
