HEADING TO CALGARY — Waterloo Synchro swimmer Jessica Tvrdon is one of several local swimmers who will be heading to Synchro Canada's national qualified in Calgary, set for next month.

Waterloo Synchro club advances to national qualifiers

It was an exciting weekend at provincial Championships for Waterloo Regional synchro this weekend in Etobicoke.  The club, which trains in Elmira, entered three routines into the event, hoping to qualify for the Synchro Canada’s national qualifier in Calgary next month.

At the end of Saturday’s events, both the solo (Jessica Tvrdon) and the duet (Maggie Steinbach and Jasmine Myers) had qualified through to Calgary.

Sunday’s competition would prove to be harder for the local club. With a vital member of their team out due to a torn hamstring 48 hours prior to the event, these swimmers and coaches had to re-work the routine.

Still managing to ‘wow’ the judges with seven swimmers instead of eight, the girls managed to maintain their fourth-place finish in the province and are the only team to represent our region at next month’s national qualifier. Team members are Kate Fitzpatrick, Hanna Smids, Victoria Zinger, Maggie Steinbach, Jasmine Myers, Jessica Tvrdon, Zoe Kreze and Amy Knechtal.

Waterloo Synchro is now accepting registration for its spring and summer programs. For more information, please visitwaterloosynchro.on.ca, or call 519-669-9900.
