
STINGY DEFENSE – The Elmira Sugar Kings won their second home game of the season, Sunday, by blanking Guelph 3-0.

The Elmira Sugar Kings rode a pair of second-period, power-play goals en route to a 3-0 victory over Guelph at the Woolwich Memorial Centre, Sunday.
Brady Campbell scored twice and added an assist in the Kings’ victory, the club’s second in three Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League games this season.
Hayden Neuman, who stopped all 32 shots he faced, picked up his first win in between the pipes for Elmira. Guelph goaltender Lee Doherty, who faced almost twice as many shots, made 57 saves.
Adam Brubacher also scored for Elmira. Jake Weidner (2), Cash Seraphim (2) and Brodie Whitehead had assists.
Guelph was 0-for-9 on the power-play, while Elmira scored twice on six opportunities.
The Hurricanes have opened the season with a pair of losses.
Next up, the Sugar Kings will look for their first win on the road this season at Brampton, Saturday.
Elmira is back on home ice to play Cambridge on Sunday at 7 p.m.
