TOUGH LOSS — Elmira Sugar Kings captain Cass Frey leads the way as his fellow teammates shake hands with the Cambridge Winter Hawks, after losing game six in playoff action on March 6.

Sugar Kings defeated in playoff action

The Elmira Sugar Kings managed to make it to game six in their playoff series against the Cambridge Winter Hawks, but no further.

The Kings were defeated in action at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena in Elmira on March 6, losing to the Winter Hawks by a score of 4-0.

The Hawks were pushing hard after their 5-1 defeat the night before at the hands of the Kings. That kept the Kings alive for one more night, as they had trailed the series by three games to one leading into the March 5 match.

This was better than the Kings’ regular season play against the Winter Hawks, where they only won a single game, losing the four remaining matches. The Kings had finished the season in seventh place, while Cambridge finished in second.

In the March 6 match, Hayden Neuman faced 40 shots on goal during the three periods. The Winter Hawks’ goalie, L Machalski, took 42 shots for the shutout.

A total of 651 fans were in attendance for the match.

The Sugar Kings are now accepting applications for its upcoming Spring Prospects Camp, set for Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena. For information n the camp, visit www.elmirakings.pointsteaksites.com.
