The Novice LL got off to a great start this season on October 13 when they battled Centre Wellington 16 to a 5–5 tie. After a scoreless first period, CW got on the board first with a goal early in the second. Arthur responded a couple minutes later when Dustin Schill put in the Vipers very first goal of the season. It was assisted by Brady Smith and Cameron McNabb. CW scored twice more this period. CW may have opened the scoring for the third period but Arthur refused to be outdone, as they scored four goals. First it was Dustin, with assists from Brady and Quintyn Johnson, next it was Brady with assists going to Brian Morrison and Dustin. Brady scored the final two goals for Arthur. They were unassisted. Thanks goes to Wyatt Schill and Conner Schmidt from the Tyke team for helping out.
October 20 saw the team hosting CW13. It was a good game but in the end CW won 7–1. The game sheet for this game was misplaced so there is no other information available.
The team hit the road on October 27 when they travelled to Fergus to face CW19. Arthur tried hard, and skated well, but lost the game 10–0. Highlights of the game were excellent rushes by Brady and Dustin; Evan McDougall’s stealthy lineups for face offs (between CW’s defencemen) to try to get things going for the team and the shot the Nairn Major stopped with her goalie mask. Thanks goes to Tyke players Evan and Conner Schmidt for helping out this game.
The Novices were back home again on November 3, this time facing CW11. It was another tie, this time 2–2. Arthur jumped ahead with the early lead with a goal in the second period when Dustin put one between the pipes. It was assisted by Brady and Leah Richardson. Arthur’s second goal was scored early in the third. This time it was Brendan Ludwig scoring with help from Dave Fowlie and Brian Morrison.
Members of the Novice LL team for this season are: David Fowlie, Quintyn Johnson, Brenda Ludwig, Nairn Major, Cameron McNabb, Brian Morrison, Leah Richardson, Dustin Schill, and Brady Smith. Coming out of retirement to coach this newest batch of potential Arthur super-stars are John Raftis, John Redburn, and Ray Hutchison.
