Novice LL start playoffs with a tie

By Janice Richardson

On December 9 the Novice LL hosted CW 15. Arthur tried hard but in the end lost the game 14–0.

On a brighter note, the first game of their round robin playoff series had Arthur travel to Hillsburgh to face EH 18. It was an exciting game that ended in a 1–1 tie. After a scoreless first period, EH got on the board with a goal late in the second.

Arthur’s goal didn’t come until there was 18 seconds left in the game when Brady Smith raced up the ice and put one between the pipes to tie it up. It was assisted by Wyatt Smith and Cameron McNabb.

January 5 saw the team travel to Fergus for an early morning match up against CW 11. It was a good effort but Arthur lost the game 7–2. Leah Richardson did a great job in net (at least her Mom thought so) and kept CW scoreless for the first period and, except for one goal, the third period as well. Arthur’s goals were both breakaways that were scored by Brady. On both he put in his own rebounds to put Arthur on the scoreboard. Both goals were unassisted.

The team was back home on January 20 when they faced CW 11 again. CW’s goalie was a wall and kept every Arthur shot out of the net. Final score was 6 for CW, 0 for Arthur. Brian Morrison really hustled this game as he tried to get something going for the team. David Fowlie did a great job on defense, chasing down numerous opponents to stop them from shooting on net.

The next Novice LL home game will be on February 17 at 4:30pm.
