MIDLAND, Mich. – Both Stratford Memorials Junior Cubs and Tavistock travel here this coming weekend, Aug. 16-19, for the U-21 International Softball Congress (ISC) championship.
Stratford opens against the Argentine Junior national team, hosts of the Junior World championships in October, they then face Munger, Michigan and Richville, Michigan in the round-robin portion of the 14-team event prior to advancing into the elimination rounds of the tournament.
Juniors beat Elmira 7-5
Last Wednesday, the Memorials Juniors Cubs improved to 10-5 on the season in South Perth Junior League action with a 7-5 win at home over visiting Elmira.
Adam Cronin earned the pitching win in relief of Cody Patterson. Cronin worked three innings and allowed just one run on four hits. Patterson cruised through three innings, giving up only two hits, but Elmira erupted for four runs on five hits in the fourth before Cronin was called upon in the fifth.
Jake Mayo led the Cubs’ attack with a single, double and home run. Greg Otterbein also homered and Cronin singled twice.
Murray Patterson’s Stratford Juniors finished their regular schedule Tuesday, Aug. 14 in Tavistock.
