Kinsmen Intermediates double Ravens 6-3

The Kinsmen Club of Stratford’s Intermediate Aces faced off against the Waterloo Ravens No. 2 in K-W Local League action Saturday afternoon at the Allman Arena.
Aces won 6-3, with Laura Vere, Kirsten Matthews and Regan Devlin providing the scoring punch with two goals apiece.

Keirsten Steven, Leisha Higgins, Rebecca Tannahill and Brook Billings all turned in great performances, playing dual roles at both the defence and forwards positions.
Goalkeeper Alexa Groenestege was solid, as usual, in the Stratford net earning the Aces a win.

Goforth scores lone goal

On Saturday afternoon at the Allman, the Egg Farmers of Ontario Atom ‘B’ team lost 2-1 to Woodstock Wildcats. The Stratford goal was scored by Hailey Goforth.

On Sunday, Aces travelled to Woodstock where they fell 2-0 to the Wildcats, even with a strong effort from rookie goaltender Amber Van Nes.

Late goal lifts Kitchener

On Sunday afternoon at Dufferin, Stratford Blowes Stationery House League Aces lost 2-1 to Kitchener Bobcats.

Emily Wolfe scored Aces’ lone goal after an end-to-end rush early in the third period to tie the score. Abbie Laurin stopped a number of Bobcat chances before Kitchener scored in the final minute of the game to earn the win.

The Stratford line of Jada Kraemer, Zoe Hill and Michelle Messerschmidt were buzzing all game, but couldn’t solve the Bobcats’ goalie.

Bantams reach semi-finals

Stratford Aces Accumetal Bantam ‘A’ squad participated in the Festival Cup tournament Nov. 23-25 weekend, reaching the semi-final match.

In opening round-robin play, Aces let a two-goal lead slip away in the third period against Kitchener, falling to the eventual tournament champions, 3–2.

Alicia Young and Jocelyn Ballantyne were the goal scorers, with Clodagh Weber earning the lone assist in the match.

Game two saw Stratford battle Lucan Irish to a scoreless draw. Rylee Kaufman earned the shutout for the Aces.
The Accumetal Aces defeated West Northumberland 3–0 in their final round-robin game. Live Charette opened the scoring for Stratford, with Carly Wouters and Ballantyne adding insurance markers. Tessa Deighton and Leah Matthews earned an assist each, and Aliya McNeil recorded the shutout.

In the semi-finals, Aces lost a heart-breaking battle 1-0 to the Irish, who scored the game winning goal early in the third period. Rylee Kaufman played well in net.
