Novice Local League
On Jan. 20, the Novice No. 1 Mustangs overcame the early morning blahs, and the challenges of playing some new positions, to come up with a 2-1 victory over Waterloo No. 5 at RIM Park. Jadynn McCracken picked up the win, in her goaltending debut, and scoring for the Mustangs were: Lilly Preisenhammer 2 goals and Tessa Routly and Alwynn Mackie 1 assist each.
On Jan. 26, the Novice No. 1 Mustangs came out flying against the Woolwich Wild in Fergus. The Mustangs scored early and often, caught on well to some positional changes, and came away with a 6-2 win. Mustang scorers were: Cameron Beilhartz 2 goals 1 assist, Alwynn Mackie 2 goals 1 assist, Bailey Sabila 1 goal 1 assist, Lilli Preisenhammer 1 goal, and Willow Castellan 1 assist.
Pee Wee Local League
On Jan. 20, the PeeWee No. 2 Mustangs had a tough time generating any offense, and despite some solid goaltending, came up on the short end of a 2-0 decision against the Waterloo Ravens No. 2 at RIM Park.
On the weekend of Jan. 26-27 the Pee Wee No. 2 Mustangs split a pair of games. On Saturday it was a fast and tough game and they had a hard time finding their skating legs until the third period, when by that time it was too late. Despite some great saves by Terina Lowe, the final score in Fergus was 5-1 for Woolwich.
Scoring for the Mustangs was Natalie Beilhartz, assisted by Ella McLeod.
Sunday was a different story, when the girls travelled back to RIM Park to take on the Waterloo No. 4 Mustangs. The Mustangs came out strong, and played their positions much better than the day before, limiting the Ravens’ scoring opportunities while taking good advantage of their own. The final score was 3-0 for the Mustangs, with Jenna Landry picking up the shutout.
Mustangs goals were picked up by: Brooke Albert, Presely DeGreave, and Bryanna Ferguson, with Kylah Dickson picking up the lone assist.
Bantam Local League
The Bantam No. 2 Mustangs had two great games on the weekend of Jan. 19-20. The girls won 2-1 against the Kitchener Thunderbirds on Saturday. Mustangs’ goals were by: Carlie Mclean and Gabbie Drimmie-Merkus; with assists by: Leah Hosack, Gabbie Drimmie-Merkus and Megan Diefenbacher
The Mustangs were also victorious by a score of 4-1 against the Woolwich Wild on Sunday. Mustangs goals scorers were: Laura DeBoer and 3 goals by Michaela Little; with assists from: Shannon Kennedy and Amanda Borg.
Another good one for the Bantam No. 2 Mustangs – the girls beat the Ayr Rockets 2-0 on Saturday, Jan. 26, with two goals by Michaela Little and assisted by Rainen Oates. Chantal Simpson achieved her third shut out of the season.
