The finals pitted the Mustangs against Sudbury, and the local girls went down 3-0 to win the silver medal.

It was a well deserved victory from a team that did not allow a goal all weekend.

The Mustangs had an outstanding weekend of hockey, finishing with a record of 3-1-1 scoring 17 goals and allowing just 5 with two shut outs.

NOVICE LOCAL LEAGUE

The Novice No. 1 Mustangs dropped a 2-0 decision at Ayr on Saturday Dec. 1, in what was their slowest game of the season.

A combination of bad ice, trying new positions, and sloppy play led to the loss. However, the girls made up for that the following Monday with one of their best efforts of the seaon.

Playing the previously undefeated Mustangs No.2 at Elora, the girls came out flying and took the play to their opponent from the first puck drop.

The team played an excellent game at both ends of the ice, and were backed by Halen Robinson’s strong goaltending, in coming away with a 3-0 win. Scorers were: Cameron Beilhartz 2 goals; Alwyn Mackie 1 goal, and Vanessa Ward 1 assist.

PEE WEE LOCAL LEAGUE

The Pee Wee No.2 Mustangs struggled in the two games following their big tournament win in Stratford.

On Dec. 1 in Hespeler, the girls dropped a 2-1 decision to the first place Cambridge Roadrunners, and then were beaten soundly 5-1 by the Ayr Rockets.

Scoring in the Saturday game was: Ella McLeaod, assisted by Natalie Beilhartz and Presly DeGreave; scoring in the Monday game was Natalie Beilhartz.
