Bantam B Wild win silver

The Woolwich Wild Lachrich Construction Bantam B Ladies had a fine showing this past weekend at the Kitchener Fallfest tournament. They came home with the silver medal after falling 3-2 to the St. Clair Storm in the championship final.

In game one of the tournament the local squad gave up an empty-net goal and lost 2-0 to Woodstock, then got on the winning track with a 2-1 victory over Peterborough.

Emily Schuurmans led the way with both markers while Brooke Mulder,Jaycee Kaufman, Marlowe Schott and Blaire Snyder had single helpers.

Game three saw the Wild get shutout goaltending from Alyssa McMurray in a 2-0 whitewash of Ennismore.

Schuurmans and Kaufman had the goals while Mulder chipped in with two assists and Schuurmans had a single helper.

In the semi-final game it took an overtime goal by Mulder, on a neat passing play with Erika Morrison, and outstanding goaltending by Autumn Campbell to upend Kent County 2-1.

Schuurmans assisted by Snyder had the other marker.

The championship game saw the locals claw back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to get within one, but they couldn’t get the equalizer in the final minute with the goalie on the bench.

Mulder and Morrison potted the goals while Schuurmans had two assists and Mulder had one.

The ladies had a fine outing this weekend and the coaching staff is proud of their players’ performance and grit in a very competitive tournament.
