Stratford Nutrition House Atom ‘C' Aces capped off a fun and exciting season, earning third-place honours and bringing home bronze medals this past weekend in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League finals.
Aces faced first-seed Milverton and gave them a very tough battle, but went down 1-0 in defeat.
Playing for a bronze medal, Stratford turned in one of its finest efforts of the season – defeating Woolwich 4-1.
Natalie Weinheimer opened the scoring from a rebound on a nice low shot from Madison McNab. Tied 1-1 start of the third period, Natalie Dinsmore converted a rebound, with assists going to Rachel Nash and Samantha McLeod.
Weinheimer added her second of the contest to make it 3-1, with assists going to Madison Webley-Bruce and Jessica Blowes. For added insurance, Jillian Pitts put Aces up 4-1 late in the game as Katelyn Berg and Rebekkah Phibbs each assisted.
Kennedy Fountain provided solid goaltending for Stratford in the two games. Head coach Bob Nash commented, "the win for the girls was a total team effort."
