For the first time in a month, the Walkerton Hawks have lost a game.

The seven-game streak came to an end on Friday, when the Mitchell Hawks went home with a 3-2 win.

Mitchell opened the scoring in the first period at 13:16.

Walkerton’s Nathan Kramer evened things out early in the second, assisted by Drew Davidson and Jordan Turcotte, but that was answered by a Mitchell goal a minute-and-a-half later.

Mitchell made it 3-1 42 seconds into the third. David Gallo squeaked one in at the 20-minute mark on the powerplay; Wade Pfeffer and Joel Bowman with the assists.

Mitchell goaltender Ben Nelson had 35 saves in the win. Jeff Flagler made 25 saves in the loss.

Next action for Walkerton is a home-and-home with Goderich this weekend. Friday, the Sailors will be in town for an 8:30 p.m. game; Saturday, the Hawks will be lakeside for an 8 p.m. game.
