Minor Hockey Report Legion Peewee Reps open 2012-13 season

The Legion Peewee Reps are skating this year under the direction of Kevin Johnston, head coach. Additional coaching staff include Mike Mulvey, assistant coach, Kevin Green, trainer, and Monique Cameron, manager. Team members are Josiah Moores (#1), Kyle Cronin (#2), Mac Mulvey (#3), Brenden Gallaher (#4), Spencer Green (#5), Landon Anderson-Johnston (#6), Hunter Hemeon (#7), Jordan Pham (#9), Nigel Fitch (#10), Simon Reidy (#14), Colton Atkins (#15), and Garrhett Green (#17). Thomas Gangl (#16) is an affiliated player.

The team hosted Blyth-Brussels on Thursday, Nov. 1. Gallaher got the team primed with a goal in the first period, assisted by Pham and Atkins. Blyth-Brussels scored a single resulting in a tie going into the second period. The opposing team came out strong in the second scoring two quick goals. Atkins added a goal for Wingham, assisted by Pham, bringing the score to 3-2 for Blyth-Brussels. Despite a strong defence and strong goal-tending, Blyth-Brussels scored one more in the second and two in the third bringing the final score to 6-2 for the visiting team.

On Saturday, the team traveled to Seaforth to meet the Seaforth Stars. The game’s first goal was scored by Seaforth minutes into the second period. A strong offence of Cronin, Gallaher, G. Green,  Hemeon, Pham, Fitch, Reidy and Atkins resulted in Wingham scoring two in the second period. Goals went to Pham and G. Green with Atkins and Cronin earning assists. Solid defence of Mulvey, S. Green, Anderson-Johnston, Gangl and Moores held the score at 2-1 until Hemeon scored one more unassisted goal near the end of the third.

On Sunday the team met Blyth-Brussels AE for an exhibition game in Brussels. The team played a solid game resulting in a team win. The final score was 8-4.

The Legion Peewees host the Drayton Defenders on Thursday at the NHWCC - game time 6:45.  They meet the Lucknow Sepoys in Lucknow on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Team members thank the team sponsor and dedicated coaching staff for their hard work and support. Family, friends and fans wish the team luck as they continue their busy 2012-2013 season.
