Casey Cyr, Get Real
Sometimes we just can’t do it on our own, yet we are constantly told that if we can’t do things independently we will never reach success.
From day one we are told, “You can do it! You will be so successful if you…!” but the weight of that idea of success most times buries us because it’s next to impossible.
What if we looked at success in a different way? What if success wasn’t based on just you in the spotlight or creating something fabulous on your own? What if a group of people, a team, organization, family or workplace teamed up together to make something even better than what was in your heart in the beginning? Sure this sounds easy. But let me explain the character building that takes place for each member of this “success team.”
Supporting people are part of the network of our individual success, and often times those people are overlooked because they aren’t in the spotlight. If you truly want to impact your community or nation, get under someone else’s vision and support them. Though it seems a little upside down, the truth is, once you get under and support someone’s vision, yours begins to melt together with theirs and it becomes better than you both originally thought.
For example, think of a marriage relationship in which each of the individuals involved must put aside their own visions to create a new, stronger one. For this to happen each person must humble himself or herself and lay down their right to a single life for the sake of something better — being together. You see, investing isn’t necessarily just with money. You can invest even your life’s desires into another person or group of people and see a magnificent return. As we make small sacrifices today, we are able to reap the benefits later, but not just us — everyone who is involved plus those you are reaching. As you are overlooking those in your life, see who you can support and get under them with all you have. The joy this brings is much more rewarding than accomplishing something on your own.
