If you've ever had any sort of illness that has sent you to the hospital for a period of time — and who among us hasn't? — you've been cared for by a nurse.
This is Nursing Week in Ontario, an opportunity to pay tribute to nurses and nursing assistants.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance salutes its nurses in an ad on the back page of this newspaper this week, a very deserved tribute. Here's an excerpt: "At HPHA we appreciate the dedication, commitment and professionalism of our nurses each and every day. . . . Their many contributions are the result of their education, skills and abilities, depth of knowledge and their compassion. Their caring is constant."
The doctors get all the glory, but it's the nurses that are the heart and soul of our health care system. (And you'd be hard-pressed to find a doctor that would dispute that statement!)
For sure, there's nothing quite so amazing as a really good nurse when you really need one. What a comfort!
We join the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance in thanking our RN's and RPN's for their compassionate care.
