Truck and car enthusiasts came for miles to take part in the Great Lakes Truck Club classic car and truck show in Clifford July 1 to 3.
With 114 trucks and 120 cars coming from as far away as Pennsylvania, “I don’t think we could do any better than what we did,” said show co-ordinator Verdun Zurbrigg. “We have way more (entries) than expected.”
The Great Lakes Truck Club and Clifford Rotary Club worked together to host the event, which they hope continues next year.
“The Rotary Club has been awesome,” said Chris Hall, president of the Great Lakes Truck Club. “The Town of Minto has been absolutely awesome.”
Hall thanked executive members and volunteers for their help with the event.
Steve Plunkett, a London resident and prestige car collector, attended the event for the second year in a row.
“He’s a drawing card, he’s the feature guy,” said Zurbrigg.
Plunkett brought along his 1941 Cadillac convertible coupe, which won the award for best GM. The car is appraised at $150,000.
“I am flattered,” said Plunkett at winning the award. “When I am invited (to a show), I try to bring one of the more outstanding cars.”
Plunkett said he’s had multiple cars since he was 16 years old, but became a serious collector about 15 years ago. He hosts the annual Fleetwood Country Cruize In show in London and travels to various other shows with his cars.
He said it was a pleasure to visit Minto again for this year’s car and truck event.
“I love the small communities, I always have,” he said….please read more in this weeks Minto Express
