Theft charges for Stratford man, woman

A Stratford man and woman were arrested in London over the weekend and charged in connection with multiple vehicle and property-related thefts.

Police had been investigating a rash of thefts across several neighbouring counties, and were finally able to close in on two suspects Saturday, when members of the Middlesex County OPP’s Property Crime Unit, with the assistance of the London Police Service, attended a Simcoe Street residence and arrested Paul Rayner, 39, and Melissa Gunton, 34.

Police located stolen property including a GMC Sierra pickup truck. They are in the process of returning the items to their owners.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Both of the accused remained in police custody as of press time. In addition to the theft charges, Rayner and Gunton each face two charges of breach of probation.
