A silo fire at a farm on William Hastings Line has resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage, as well as a significant loss of feed.
Firefighters responded to the report of a fire at the Wellesley Township farm at 12:56 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The fire was contained to a silo used to store corn gluten on the north side of the barn. Firefighters from the Wellesley fire department were able to extinguish the fire and no livestock were lost as a result of the blaze.
Damage to the silo is estimated at $20,000. The value of feed lost in the fire is estimated to be worth between $10,000 and $15,000. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
