KIRKTON — Three people have been arrested with charges stemming from the illegal sales of firearms and ammunition based out of a gun shop north of Kirkton.
According to a Huron County OPP news release, the arrests are the result of a 10-month investigation by the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit and Huron and Perth OPP detachments.
On May 17, members of the OPP executed search warrants at Ontario Gun Services and the adjoining residence on Road 164 north of Kirkton and at a residence on Line 26 in Perth County.
As a result of the search, police have seized a large quantity of firearms and ammunition.
A 48-year-old South Huron woman has been charged with two counts of transferring a firearm without authority and seven counts of transferring ammunition without authority contrary to section 101 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
A 49-year-old South Huron man has been charged with two counts of transferring ammunition without authority contrary to section 101 of the Criminal Code of Canada, while a 64-year-old West Perth man has been charged with two counts of transferring a firearm without authority and two counts of transferring ammunition without authority contrary to section 101 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
All three have a scheduled court appearance for June 28 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Exeter.
