A Wellesley-area business was completely destroyed by fire on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Police and volunteer firefighters from the Wellesley Fire Department responded to the report of a blaze at John BM Manufacturing, a business that makes heavy-duty farm equipment, on Hessen Strasse at 5:53 a.m.
While the business was destroyed, a nearby home and barn were not damaged.
Damage the building, as well as equipment and inventory, is estimated at $650,000. Ontario’s Fire Marshall has been notified to assist in determining the cause of the fire.
No one was injured in the blaze.
While firefighters were battling the blaze, police closed area roads to allow firetrucks to transport water to the scene. Police also reminded many motorists not to drive on closed roads as it is a Highway Traffic Act offence and puts emergency workers at risk.
