Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a collision that claimed the life of a St. Jacobs woman on Aug. 1.
A 74-year-old woman was using a mobility scooter to cross King Street near Cedar Street in downtown St. Jacobs, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle operated by a 47-year-old Kitchener woman.
The woman on the scooter was not using the crosswalk at the time of the accident.
She was knocked to the ground, striking her head against the pavement.
She was taken to Grand River Hospital and then airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with serious head injuries.
At 5:30 p.m. she succumbed to her injuries. The cause of death was severe head trauma.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this collision. Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to contact the WRPS Traffic Branch at 519 650 8500 extension 8856.
Police have identified the deceased as Doris Bast.
