Newly-appointed St. Marys Fire Department Deputy Chief Brent Dundas let Anna McIntosh try on his protective helmet during Saturday’s Evan’s Touch A Truck event at Milt Dunnell Field. Town Councillors approved the veteran volunteer firefighter’s appointment at a recent meeting, after the retirement of Bob Harris.
Dundas joined the Department in December of 1982, Chief Dennis Brownlee told the Journal Argus earlier this week. “When I’m not around for whatever reason, he’ll assume the responsibilities and duties that I undertake.”
Dundas, who was promoted to Captain in 2007, will now also act as Training Officer for the St. Marys Department. “He’ll sit down with the Captains and work out a training schedule,” explained Brownlee.
After two recent retirements, the Department has now also returned to its full contingent of 24 firefighters.
