The City of Stratford is undertaking a study to develop a Bike and Pedestrian Master plan, which will be used as a guide for the development and management of the city’s bikeways, trails and multi-modal connections over the next 20-plus years.
The overall goal of the study is to create a comprehensive, connected, and sustainable city-wide active transportation system to serve residents, businesses, and visitors.
The study’s first public information centre will be held this Saturday from 9-10 a.m. at the Farmers’ Market and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rotary Complex lobby during the Soup’s On fundraiser.
The centre is being held to receive community input on a first draft of a bike and pedestrian route network, and to provide examples of facility types, such as on-road bike lanes, signed bike routes, and off-road trails, currently under consideration.
In early February, the city will host a focus group discussion, inviting local stakeholder organizations to provide further input on the draft network. A final report is expected to head to council in the spring.
