Arthur murder trial to start in January

Jury selection in the trial of Arthur murder suspect Terry Tremble is slated for Jan. 21.

“This may be a longish trial,” Justice Cas Herold told the court after dealing with initial legal matters in Superior Court of Justice last Wednesday, including the jury selection date.

Justice Herold set aside Dec. 19 behind closed doors for further discussion of legal matters in the case.

He also noted Jan. 15 through 18 would be available for pretrial motions.

Mr. Tremble, wearing a dark suit, was present for Wednesday’s brief proceedings.

The Arthur man, 52, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Adrienne Roberts, a local paramedic. She was 33 years old.

Mr. Tremble was arrested on the same day, Oct. 6, 2010, that her body was discovered in the couple’s Arthur home.

The couple was married 16 months at the time and had an eight-month-old boy.

The prosecution is represented by assistant Crown attorney Murray de Vos. Mr. Tremble’s defence lawyer is Brennan Smart.
