EXETER — The owner of a new Pita Pit franchise in Exeter said he expects the new restaurant will be open in late January or early February.
Opening a business in Exeter is a bit of a homecoming for James Kemps, who lived outside Centralia for 22 years but now lives in the London area.
He said right now renovations are being done to his Exeter location, which is in the former Pizza Delight on Main Street beside The Ridge. Kemps said he has a local contractor doing the work.
He said he always thought Exeter would be a good location to open a business like Pita Pit because the town is busy.
As for Pita Pit, Kemps said “it’s a super healthy choice,” and said young people love it. He said he wanted a location close to the arena and schools.
This is Kemps’ first foray into the food business and he said he’s been thinking of making the move for a couple of years.
He expects to hire 15-20 employees.
He said he’s excited to see the business open and said Exeter doesn’t really have anything like what Pita Pit offers.
Kemps said the business will do catering and hopes to fill orders at schools.
“We’re hoping that we can do really well, for sure,” he said.
Kemps said he’ll probably relocate to the Exeter area eventually because most of the work his other business does, James Kemps Pressure Washing, is in this area.
