Mantini Sisters to perform Christmas concert in St. Jacobs

The Mantini Sisters will celebrate the Christmas season with an evening of popular old and new holiday classics at the St. Jacobs Country Playhouse this week, Dec. 13-14.

The Drayton Entertainment production stars Barbara, Sandra and Ann Mantini, three real-life sisters who have been singing together for more than 20 years.

Having been featured at theatre companies and symphony orchestras across Canada and the United States, the trio are known for their impeccable harmonic style and a charming stage presence.

“The Mantini Sisters are incredible performers, and their holiday concert is the perfect way to celebrate the joy of the season,” stated Alex Mustakas, Drayton Entertainment’s artistic director.

The Christmas concert will include such songs as Mary’s Boy Child, It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year, The Huron Carol, Sleigh Ride and I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm.

The trio was discovered by the late Alan Lund, and later worked with legendary conductor/composer Howard Cable for the Charlottetown Festival production of Swing! in 1985. At least one, if not all, of the sisters was cast when Mustakas produced Swing! for his own theatre in 1994, 2004 and 2009.

The Mantini Sisters have also on stage for Drayton Entertainment’s smash-hit premier Big Band Legends, which is scheduled to run in the 2013 season lineup.

Show times for The Mantini Sisters: A Christmas Concert are 8 p.m. (Dec. 13) and 2 p.m. (Dec. 14).

Tickets are $40 plus HST and can be purchased at www.stjacobscountryplayhouse.com, at the theatre’s box office, or by calling 519-747788 (toll free 1-855-DRAYTON).
