SIMCOE – The Norwell Redmen are heading back to provincials in senior boys high school volleyball.

The Redmen won double-A CWOSSA last week, defeating host Simcoe in the final 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, 25-19).

Norwell didn’t drop a single game at the tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 14, finishing first in their pool by sweeping Owen Sound 2-0 (25-15, 25-17) and Simcoe 2-0 (25-20, 25-23), then taking down Sacred Heart in the semifinal 2-0 (25-11, 25-11).

The double-A boys OFSAA volleyball championship is hosted by Wingham’s F.E. Madill in Stratford Nov. 22-24. Norwell is seeded No. 5 of 20 teams and is slotted in a pool with Essex, Perth, Cobourg and Streetsville.

The round robin starts Thursday morning and runs to Friday morning, followed by the consolation and championship playoffs. It culminates on Saturday at 5 p.m. To follow Norwell’s progress, check out the tournament’s website www.ofsaa.on.ca/boys-aa-volleyball.

A year ago at OFSAA the Redmen bowed out to the Loyalist Lancers 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 21-25) in the quarter-final pool crossover game.

The junior boys double-A CWOSSA championship was held last Thursday, also in Simcoe. Norwell made it to the championship but fell 3-1 (24-26, 20-25, 25-14, 24-26) to Owen Sound.

The Redmen previously defeated Saugeen 2-1 (25-18, 19-25, 15-13) and Delhi 2-0 (25-14, 25-15) in pool play, and Our Lady of Lourdes 2-0 (25-23, 26-24) in the semifinal.
