Collect treasures of the past in new Harriston store

Minto Express

HARRISTON – Vintage. Retro. Old-school. Kitschy.

All of the above applies to the extensive selection inside Heather’s Collectibles on Elora Street in Harriston – a walk through the story is surely a journey back in time.

“It’s like a treasure hunt,” said owner Heather Mallory of Clifford. “We’re getting really positive remarks on the store that it’s very clean and very organized.”

Mallory is a long-time collector and personally selected the items in her store.

“I’ve collected since I was a young child with postcards and keys, things people would give me,” she said.

Mallory is no stranger to running a business, previously owning three restaurants in the Minto area.

“The timing was right,” she said of her new venture in Harriston.

Heather’s Collectibles carries clocks, Depression glass, wall pockets, planters, tea cups and saucers, pictures, salt and pepper shakers, cookie jars, a wide selection of glassware and vintage jewellery, buttons, books, figurines and more.

“Whether you’re a collector or not, come and take a look. It’s just fun,” said Mallory. “It’s like a walk through memory lane. Maybe you’ll want to start a collection . . . there is nothing more enjoyable than collecting.”

Mallory will also keep track of customers’ collections or sought-after items and try to hunt the items down.

Heather’s Collectibles is open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
