Search warrants lead to nearby drug bust in North Perth/Minto

NORTH PERTH/MINTO – On Friday, June 1, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit and Organized Crime Team – with the assistance of West Region ERT, West Region Canine, and Perth County OPP, executed six  Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at locations in the Municipality of North Perth. Four of the search warrants were executed at residences situated on Wallace Avenue, Elma Street and Queen Street, while the remaining search warrants were executed at a business situated on Industrial Row. An additional Controlled Drugs and Substance Act search warrant was executed at a residence situated on Main Street in Palmerston.

As a result of the execution of the search warrants, police investigators seized methamphetamine, cocaine, cannabis marijuana, and GHB (date-rape drug). Offence-related property was also seized that consisted of cash and trafficking related paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the combined controlled substances is $6,729. The estimated street value of the offence related property is $3,045.

The individuals listed below, were arrested and charged with the following offences in conjunction with this investigation:

Kyle Mackenzie – male – age 27 (Listowel).

Charged: Conspiracy to traffic cocaine

Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine

Possession of cannabis marihuana

Summer Hill – female – age 25 (Listowel).

Charged: Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine

Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine

Possession for the purpose of Trafficking GHB

Kristopher Wedge – male – age 26 (Listowel)

Charged: Conspiracy to traffic cocaine

Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine

Fail to comply with probation order

Matthew James – male – age 26 (Listowel)

Charged: Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (two counts)

Fail to comply with probation order (three counts)

Joshua Drumond – male – age 20 (Palmerston)

Charged: Conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine

Possession of methamphetamine

Fail to comply with probation order (three counts)

Fail to comply with undertaking

Brandon Blake – male – age 21 (Listowel)

Charged: Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine

Possession for the purpose of trafficking GHB

Kevin Benson – male – age 49 (Listowel)

Charged: Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine

Possession for the purpose of trafficking GHB

Bethany Macdonald – female – age 25 (Listowel)

Charged: Possession of marijuana

Possession of cocaine

Mackenzie, Hill, Wedge, James, and Drumond were remanded in custody awaiting bail hearings.  Wedge and James appeared for bail on Tuesday, June 5. Drumond and Hill will appear on Wednesday, June 6, while Mackenzie is scheduled to appear on Friday, June 8.

Blake, Benson and Macdonald were released from custody. Their first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 in Stratford Court.

The investigation is continuing.
