The entrance to the Normanby Recreation Complex has been given a facelift, creating a new look for the long established building.
A few years back the Normanby Recreation Committee was trying to decide what their next project should be. Numerous ideas were brought to the table, but a new entrance to the arena seemed to warrant the most attention.
It was around this time that the Rec Committee attended a government workshop on “accessibility”.
“We all found out how indispensable our arena was so that became our priority,” committee member Marg Rapp said.
A $30,000 quote to build a new entrance was obtained and fundraising efforts soon began. But once the building project drew closer to becoming a reality, the cost involved had grown to $48,000 leaving an outstanding balance of $18,000 that still needed to be raised.
The Municipality of West Grey contributed $12,000 to the project, which brought the remaining amount owing to $6000.
The Normanby Recreation’s 26th Annual Family Ball Tournament will be taking place this summer, July 22, 23 and 24, and it is hoped that it will bring in enough to pay this remaining balance off....... please read more in this week's Mount Forest Confederate.
