Russell Lopes-Walker enjoys a slice of watermelon pizza on Nov. 23 as part of the food skills program that was held at Victoria Cross Public School. The program was a joint effort between VCPS, Wellington Heights Secondary School’s Raising Healthy Children class, Healthy Happy Families and the North for Youth Community Group. Students from WHSS worked with the VCPS students to create healthy, fun snacks while learning about portion sizes and the Canada Food Guide.

99 years young

Laura Marchment celebrated her 99th birthday on Nov. 24 with cake, coffee and tea with her many friends at Birmingham Retirement Community.


More than 100 people attended the Live2Lead program broadcast on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in Mount Forest. The program, which was originally aired live on Oct. 7 at the Norgan Theatre in Palmerston, featured four world-renowned speakers on leadership development who shared their ideology on how to grow and be a better leader.

No more interruptions

Work has been completed on the Cst. Rick Hopkins Bridge at the south end of Mount Forest. Work began in May, and the bridge re-opened to traffic at the end of August (pictured). Work was recently completed on the underside of the bridge, which saw temporary lane reductions.
