Wingham Obituaries – May 30, 2012

Edith Braniff

March 24, 1914 – May 22, 2012

Edith Marie Braniff (nee Schrie) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, with her loving son Fred by her side.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Herbert and her daughter Marilyn.

Edith is survived by her son Fred (Freda) and her two sisters, Florence Klein of Ottawa and Margaret Rugg of Mississauga. Edith will be deeply missed by her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews.

She was a long-time employee of the T. Eaton Company. Edith was an avid curler at the Granite Club in Kitchener and after retiring, Edith and her husband Herbert enjoyed curling at the Howick Recreation Centre.

Cremation has taken place. A private family interment in Wroxeter will take place at a later date.

 Ross Huber

Ross George Huber of RR 3 Teeswater passed away at his residence on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the age of 63.

Ross was born on Aug. 26, 1948 to the late Cyril and Evelyn (Schefter) Huber.

Dear husband of Carol Huber. Beloved father of Barb and Chris Reinhart of Elora, Brenda Huber and David Nichols of Kitchener, Frank and Tanya Huber of Atwood, Angela and Steve Rintoul of Lucknow, Marlene Stewart of Stratford and Joanne and Tim Hayes of Teeswater. Fondly remembered by stepsons Thomas Ready of London and Spencer Ready at home and eight grandchildren.

Missed by his siblings Doris and Robert Gutscher of Waterloo, Reta Heimpel of St. Agatha, Verna Williams of Kitchener, Harvey Huber of Kitchener and Betty and Rick Voisin of St. Clements. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and Trudy Huber of Kitchener.

Predeceased by daughter Gertrude, brothers Allan Huber and Jerome Huber, sister Madelyn Huber, brothers-in-law John Williams and Wayne Heimpel and sister-in-law Theresa Huber.

Visitation was held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Monday, May 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Teeswater on Tuesday, May 22 at 11 a.m. with Father Stephen Lacroix as celebrant. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Floral tributes were carried by his grandchildren. Pallbearers were sons-in-law Chris Reinhart, David Nichols, Steve Rintoul and Tim Hayes and friends Bill Hayes and Brad Hayes.

Memorial donations to the Wingham & District Hospital Foundation or Sacred Heart Church Building Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Iyla Elliott

At Wingham & District Hospital on Thursday, May 24, 2012, Iyla Jane Elliott of Wingham, age 76 years.

Beloved wife of Walter Elliott (married 2001-2012) and the late Robert Burchill (married 1954-1993). Loving mother of Beverley Elston of RR 4 Wingham, Barry Burchill of RR 3 Wingham, Brenda and Craig Brydges and Bonnie Burchill of Mississauga. . Lovingly remembered by 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Dear sister of Deanne and Ralph Dickson, Glen and Reta Allan and Andy Allan and June Lowry. Survived by Walter’s family Paul and Kathy Elliott, Ruth and Paul Laidlaw, Barry and Crystal Elliott, David and Susan Elliott and Karen Keppel-Jones. Fondly remembered by Marie Dickert, Lois and Bob Kerr, Margaret Weltz and several neices and nephews.

Predeceased by her son-in-law Larry Elston in 2007, her sisters Connie Allan and Reta Dahms, brother-in-law Ronald Dahms, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Saturday, May 26 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at Lucknow Presbyterian Church on Sunday, May 27 at 2 p.m. Interment in Wingham Cemetery.

Memorial donations to Lucknow Presbyterian Church, the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Robarts Research Lab would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
