Remembering at the Cenotaph

Jenna Yake, dressed her grandfather’s military uniform, once again gave the roll call when Remembrance Day was marked at the Mount Forest Cenotaph on Sunday morning.

A large crowd attended the ceremony, held on an almost balmy morning under sunny skies.

Derek Moore led the service, held under the auspices of Captain Fred Campbell V.C. Branch 134, Royal Canadian Legion.

Twenty-seven wreaths were placed during the ceremony.

OPP S/Sgt. Retired Rick Sinnamon carried the Canada wreath, placed by Bob Kerr on behalf of MP Gary Schellenberger, Bruce McMeekin carried the Province of Ontario wreath placed by Walter Dukes on behalf of MPP Randy Pettapiece and Murray Calder carried the Veterans Affairs Canada wreath placed by Kelly Sheehan.

President Kathleen MacRobbie placed the Branch 134 RCL wreath carried by Val Glen and Zone Commander/President Joyce McLean placed the Brach 134 Ladies Auxiliary wreath carried by Helen McLean.

Sonny Thompson carried the Korea wreath, placed by President MacRobbie, Rick Vaine carried the WWI Armistice wreath placed by Charles Lewis and Bill Nelson carried the Peacekeepers wreath placed by Master/Cpl Sandy Nelson.

Councillor Gary Williamson placed the Wellington County wreath carried by Randy Nicholson, Councillor Andy Lennox placed the Town of Mount Forest wreath carried by Murray Calder and OPP S/Sg. Ret. Glen Dietrich placed the OPP wreath carried by Rene Archambault. Shelby McGee placed the Air Cadet Squadron 895 wreath, carried by Brad Pinder.

Ron McEachern carried the Mount Forest Firefighters wreath, placed by Bill Hieber. Alex Watson placed the Cameron Highlanders wreath, carried by Howard Gower. John Vanderleeuw placed the Dutch Canadians wreath, carried by Claus Rave.

President Shawn McLeod placed the Chamber of Commerce wreath, carried by Ken Ferrier; Worshipful Master Ken Thompson placed the St. Albans Lodge wreath carried by Ed White and John Capell carried the Greek Resistance wreath carried by Anastasia Agnidis.

Arthur Blaskevitch placed the Knights of Columbus wreath, carried by Leonard Seifried. President Colleen Copland placed the Lions Club wreath carried by Wilson Schwindt and President John Williamson placed the Kin Club wreath carried by Trish Moore. Scott Young placed the Mount Forest Optimist Club wreath, carried b George Hawkes.

Representing the Victoria Cross Public School were Larissa Lamont and Luke Gilstorf who placed the wreath carried by Gordon Francis, Raven Rea and Clayton Wodiany placed the St. Maryís Separate School wreath carried by Jake Profijt and Andrew Stewart placed the Wellington Heights Secondary School wreath carried by Clayton Copp.

Nathan Vansavern placed the War Amps wreath carried by Derek Moore, Marlyn Moorey placed a wreath on behalf of Mount Forest D.C. Cabs carried by Wilson Schwindt and Noah and Aidan Felsbourg placed the Minor Hockey wreath carried by Marg Rapp.
