MLF memorial tournament raises $49,000

PALMERSTON – The 2012 Mary Lynne Forrest Memorial Golf Tournament took place on Wednesday, July 18 at Pike Lake Golf Centre, and raised an incredible $49,000 towards the purchase of a patient mobilizer for Palmerston and District Hospital.

“On behalf of Palmerston and District Hospital, and the Mary Lynne Forrest Charity Golf Tournament, we would like to thank everyone for their contributions to the eighth annual MLF charity tournament,” said George Forrest on behalf of the Forrest family.

The new mobilizer is a moveable system that allows a single operator to transfer a patient to any kind of bed, operating table or X-ray surface, without any patient manual rolling or lifting movements. This equipment will benefit patients and staff.

The MLF charity tournament was created to honour the life of a wife, mother, sister and friend. Mary Lynne grew up and lived in Minto Township, and her family said she would be proud of the support the community and surrounding areas have given to help make the tournament such a huge success in her memory.

Over the past eight years, the event has raised $489,000 for projects at the hospitals in Mount Forest and Palmerston.

“Again, a huge thank you to everyone that helped make the day a success,” added Forrest. “It would not have been possible without the generous support of our community, dedicated golfers, volunteers and friends. With your support of the MLF tournament, we can be part of keeping quality health care close to home.”
