Listowel Obituaries – August 7, 2013

Alvin Gamble

Mr. James Alvin Gamble passed away at his home in Listowel on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at the age of 72.
Beloved husband of Phyllis (Elliott) Gamble. Dear father of Lynne Bierling, and grandfather of Cameron Bierling.
Brother of Thelma Hutton of Listowel, Jack and Audrey Gamble of Cambridge, and Lois Gamble of Fordwich. Brother-in-law of Pat and Lloyd Wheeler of Teeswater, Mildred Gray of Listowel and Helen Elliott of Richmond Hill.
Predeceased by his parents Lorne and Una (Mayberry) Gamble, his sister Dorothy Gray, brother Bill Gamble, parents-in-law Harry and Alice Elliott, and brothers-in-law Bill Hutton, Jack Gray and Jack Elliott.
Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 1-4 p.m. at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel where the funeral service was held on Monday, Aug. 5 at 11 a.m.
Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations to the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

Marjorie Jarvis

Mrs. Marjorie Ruth (Nuhn) Jarvis of Listowel passed away at Royal Terrace, Palmerston on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at the age of 82.
Beloved wife of Doug Jarvis. Sister-in-law of Doreen Nuhn and Ruth Nuhn, both of Listowel, Don Nelson of Toronto, Gerald and Jean Jarvis of Point Clark, June and Jack Spencer of Kitchener, and Lois Leuscher of Point Clark.
Predeceased by her sister Vera Nelson and her brothers Ross Nuhn and Lloyd Nuhn.
Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Monday, Aug. 5 from 2-5 p.m. The funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wallace Township on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated.

Austin Curran

Austin Curran of Monkton passed away suddenly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013 at the age of 65. Austin enjoyed spending time golfing, fishing and in the shop tinkering.
Beloved husband of Pauline (Broughton) Curran, whom he married in 1967. Loving father of Jamie and Mary Frances of London, and Mark and friend Becca Hymers of Atwood. Special grandpa of Matt, Nicholas, Kaye-loni and her daughter Paizley, Justin and Taylor.
Brother of Gladys and Herb Luschtinetz of B.C., Ernest of New Brunswick, and Casey and Donna of Alberta. Fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Mary Broughton of Milverton, brother-in-law John Broughton and fiancée Linda of Madoc and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Vincent and Ella (Lewis) Curran and father-in-law Jack Broughton.
In keeping with Austin’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Stratford General Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
