Corry Ruijs and Hazel Clifford, who is assisted by Cedarcroft activities director Jaqui Zehr, walk the halls to begin the Senior Games.

Let the games begin

The fourth annual All Seniors Care Seniors Games got started at Cedarcroft Place Monday.

Residents held an opening ceremony where MPP Randy Pettapiece brought greetings and letters of support were read from Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

From Feb. 4-8, seniors across Canada are competing in friendly activities like bingo and bridge, Wii golf and bowling and bean bag toss.

“Our attitude,” says Cedarcroft director Dan Vito, “is very much to keep our seniors active and engaged, not only physically but mentally as well.”

Following speeches, many of the residents participated in a non-competitive walk through the halls.
