Egremont Community School Grade 8 students graduate

Grade 8 graduates Paisley Janzen and Kennedhy Prins were the top award winners in the Egremont Community School’s class of 2012, presented with the trophies and plaques at Thursday evening’s graduation ceremony.

Paisley won an Academic Award, the French Award , History Award, Georgraphy and Drama Award.

Kennedhy was presented with an Academic Award, French Award, Language Arts Award and Mathematics Award.

Both girls were also honour students, along with Robyn Barnes, Ciarra Pennings, Avery Reeves, Tess Rowley and Nikoletta Wood.

Tess Rowley and Nikoletta Wood were presented with three awards each.

Tess received an Academic Award as well as Science Award and Leadership Award.

Nikoletta won the Art Award, Creative Writing Award and Citizenship Award.

Robyn Barnes received the Music Award and the Citizenship Award.

In addition to receiving the Athletic Award for Female Students, Avery Reeves won the OSSTF, District 7 Award.

The Athletic Award for Male Students went to Blake Lewis ,

Taylor Cove was named as the female student making the most progress, while Dawson Harrison was the male student making the most progress.

Ciarra Pennings received the Service Award and Erica Whitten received the award for Student Council President.

Presented with awards for being valedictorians at the graduation ceremony were Devon Morgan and Amanda Stere.

Selected by their classmates, both valedictorians talked about the amazing memories they have of 10 years at Egremont school and the wonderful friendships they have forged.

Also graduating on Thursday, in addition to the aforementioned award winners, were Derick Acheson, Wesley Christien, Dawson Grant, Cole Hodgins, Kaitilyn Inglis, Zachary Kuntz, Connel MacLeod, Logan McIntosh, Cierra Mollison, Brooke North, Isaac Peters, David Scott, Matthea Smart, Kurtis Snyders, Nathan St. Denis, Cory Summers, Tyler Troup and Joel Webers.

Following refreshments, the graduates were invited to stay for a graduation dance at the Optmist Hall where the graduation ceremony was held.
