Alan Reed

At his residence on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, Mr. Alan Philip Reed C.A. of Wingham, age 65 years.

Beloved husband of Beverley (Wilson) Reed. Dear father of Kimberley Reed of Sturgeon Falls, Jennifer and Barrie Pyefinch of Oshawa, Philip and Abbey Reed of Roanoke, IL and Sarah and Justin MacTavish of Wingham. Loving grandfather of Morgan, Alexis, Brooke, Carson, Braxton, Hadley, Parker and Emmitt.

Son-in-law of Doris Wilson of Wingham. Brother of Tim, Clive and Robert Reed, Phyllis Stallard and Valerie Reed.

Predeceased by his parents Donald and Lillian (Menage) Reed, brother Bill Reed, and grandson Nathan.

Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at Wingham United Church on Friday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. Rev. Richard D. Hall officiated. Interment in Wingham Cemetery.

Memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Shirley McAllister

At Wingham & District Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, Shirley Audrey McAllister of Wingham, formerly of Teeswater, age 82 years.

The former Shirley Yeoman, beloved wife of the late Stewart Grant (1959), and the late Mervin McAllister (2010). Dear mother of Karen and Dale Wardley of Barrie and Gail and Paul Heffer of Wingham. Loving grandmother of Krista and Matthew Dunn, Daniel Wardley and fiancée Julie, Rachel Heffer and fiancé Dan, Ashley and Matthew Snow and Joelle Heffer. Great-grandmother of Cooper Dunn.

Sister-in-law of Anne Yeoman and Noreen Haines, both of Wingham.

Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Hazel (Forester) Yeoman, her brother Cecil Yeoman, sister-in law Olive McBurney and brothers-in-law Carman Haines and Jack McBurney.

A private funeral service was held in the McBurney Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Hannah Lee officiated. Interment in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery, Culross Township.

Memorial donations to Teeswater United Church, the Parkinson Foundation or Wingham Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

At Braemar, Wingham, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, Mrs. Reta Madeline Mason of Wingham, age 92 years.

The former Reta Stapleton, beloved wife of the late Alfred Mason, who predeceased her in 1992. Dear mother of Mary Anne and Harold Gordon of Arkona and Douglas and Leslie Mason of London. Loving grandmother of Jonathon Gordon and Sarah Frank of Strathroy, Kendra and Brian McDougall of Strathroy and Melissa and Don Christopher of London. Great-grandmother of Damon, Christopher, Laura, Marley and Charlotte.

Sister of Ken Stapleton of Wingham, Anne Brown of Nepean, Wade and Alice Stapleton of Wingham and Mary St. Martin of Nepean. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents James and Isabella (Austin) Stapleton and her brother Bill Stapleton.

Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 1-2 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. Bernard Skelding officiated. Interment in Wingham Cemetery.

Michael McGlynn

Michael John McGlynn of RR 5 Mildmay died tragically at Kinloss Township on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at the age of 21.

Cherished son of Bernie and Doreen McGlynn of RR 2 Wingham. Beloved brother of Sherena McGlynn and her fiancé Tyler Leyen, Lucas McGlynn and Sheldon McGlynn, all at home.

Dear nephew of Len and Kathy McGlynn of Winnipeg, Marty and Jodie McGlynn of RR 2 Wingham, Dennis and Cher McGlynn of RR 2 Teeswater, Sean and Shannon McGlynn of Teeswater, Valerie and Dennis Voisin of Listowel, Kelly and Kim McGlynn of Alberta, Bill and Dana McGlynn of RR 2 Teeswater, Jeremy and Nicole McGlynn of RR 2 Holyrood, Pat and Janice McGlynn of Ajax, George and Mary Kreutzwiser of RR 4 Walton, Connie and Ray Harris of RR 5 Lucknow, Diane and Randy Lieber of RR 3 Mildmay and Ralph and Anita Kreutzwiser of RR 2 Wingham. Fondly remembered by many great-aunts and great-uncles, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his grandparents Gerry and Mary (Malone) McGlynn, Harold and Grace (Kreutzwiser) McCormick, Oliver and Beatrice (Logel) Kreutzwiser and cousins Christopher Morrison-McGlynn, Kolby George Inglis and Brian McGlynn.

Visitation was held at Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Sunday, Dec. 23 from 1-5 and 7-10 p.m., parish prayers and Knights of Columbus service were held at 6:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was con-celebrated by Father Keith Morrison, Father Stephen Lacroix and Father Don Wilhelm, which was held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Wingham on Monday, Dec. 24 at 11 a.m.

Beautiful music was sung by the Sacred Heart Church choir, accompanied by Margaret Beard and Stephanie Hills. Ash Akon farewell was played on the violin by Dan Mighton, a special friend, and accompanied by his father John on the keyboard.

A single carnation was taken up by each of his cousins and neighbours and placed in a vase at the altar. A touching homily was given by Father Keith Morrison, which concluded with the singing of “Silent Night”. Uncle Pat McGlynn recited the poem entitled “My First Christmas in Heaven.”

The procession was led to the Wingham cemetery by the log truck he always drove and was driven by a very close friend Rob Borth and accompanied by another close friend Colton Lowry.

To celebrate his love of outdoors and three-wheelers on his Sunday fun days, several machines were transported on the log truck to his final resting place.

Serving as pallbearers were Lyle Pinder, Nick Lang, Christian Droefke, Francis Reinhart, Colton Lowry, Mike Ferguson, Tom Voisin and Evan Bross. Flower bearers were Tara Renink, Kelsey Mighton, Pam Howe and Christina Kaufman.

Michael was a dedicated third-degree member of the Wingham Knights of Columbus Council 7569. He was a graduate of Sir Fleming College with a forestry technician degree. He was employed in the family business in Mildmay as a bush crew worker, as well as driver of the log drive. He was a hardworking team player and helped out in many ways. He was a fun loving brother to his siblings and to all.

He enjoyed snowmobiling and three-wheeling in the great outdoors.

Michael will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his many friends, neighbours, family and co-workers, as he touched so many of their lives with his smile, humour and stories. He was a “hoot!”

Lynda Gowing

Mrs. Lynda Florence Arldene (Darroch) Gowing passed away peacefully at her home in Listowel on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at the age of 58 years.

Lynda is survived by Douglas R. Gowing, her loving husband of 42 years, and by her children Jeremy Gowing and his partner Tess Adaskus of Atwood, and Marcia Gowing of Listowel. Grandmother of Daniel, Justin, Austin, Curtis, Josie, and Courtney.

Sister of John and Margaret Darroch, Donna Rudow, Eleanora Larson, Donelda and John Herrfort, Barbara and Robert Mitchell, Alvin Darroch and his friend Christine, Raymond and Connie Darroch, Sheila and Albert Subject, Cathy and David Smith, Bonnie and Fred Wocks, Shally Ernest, Roxanne and Greg Bowman, and Phyllis and Ted Smith. Sister-in-law of Pat Vick, Ruth and Don Martinson, Shirley and Don Adamschuck, Barb and Nigel Way, Danny Gowing, Maxine and Orvis Fletcher, and Helen Sommerville.  She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cousins.

Predeceased by her parents John and Norma (Fischer) Darroch, sister Shirley, brother Gordon Darroch, brothers-in-law Dalton, Lyle, and Donald Gowing, and Ron Rudow, and by her sisters-in-law Joyce Bender, and Molly Gowing.

A celebration of Lynda’s life took place at her home (719 Main St. W., Listowel) on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 1-4 p.m.

The former Helen Gibbons, beloved wife of Jim Sleightholm and mother of Bill.

Sister of Ian and Anne-Louise Gibbons of Walkerton, Winston and Diane Gibbons of Goderich, Wayne and Doris Gibbons of Lucknow, Lionel and Sue Gibbons of Listowel and Brian and Mayme Gibbons of Wingham.

Predeceased by her parents George and Leola (Wraith) Gibbons, her sister Marlene Heibein and by her son Andrew in 1996.

Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home Ltd., Wingham on Monday, Jan. 7 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. Rev. Bernard Skelding officiated. Final resting place, Wingham Cemetery.
