Shirley Anne Stephens

Shirley Anne Stephens died peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday morning, Dec. 23, 2012.

Shirley Stephens (nee Stearne) of Owen Sound was in her 74th year.

Beloved wife of the late Ron Stephens.

Loved mother of Allyson Hibma and husband Gord, Mike Stephens and wife Barb, Rhonda Deyell and husband Todd and Jennifer Eckert and husband David, all of Owen Sound.

Lovingly remembered by her 10 grandchildren: Crystal and Chris Marshall, Justin, Travis and Devin Stephens, Nicole and Josh Deyell and Matthew, Kristen and Kaitlin Eckert and two step-grandchildren, Kevin Hibma and Kim Wegrzyn.

Shirley will be sadly missed by her loyal and loving dog “Tea Cup”.

Dear sister of Ron Stearne and wife Liz of Owen Sound and Virginia Byers and husband Les of Mount Forest and sister-in-law May Stearne of Saskatchewan. Also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law of the Stephens family.

Predeceased by her brother Jack Stearne and her parents Stanley and Sylvia Stearne.

A Tribute Service to honour her life was held at the Owen Sound Legion on Thursday, Dec. 27th from 1 to 5 p.m.

Expressions of remembrance to the Residential Hospice of Grey Bruce or the Cancer Society would be appreciated. Messages of condolence are welcome at A tree will be planted in the Memorial Forest of the Grey Sauble Conservation Foundation in memory of Shirley by the Downs and Son Funeral Home, Hepworth.

Gerald Lefrancois

Gerald Lefrancois died at his home at Pike Lake on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

Gerald “Gerry” Joseph Lefrancois, formerly of Belle River, was in his 81st year.

Beloved husband of Annette (Wheeler) Lefrancois.

Loved father of Denise Lesperance and husband Mike of Belle River, Giselle Beneteau and husband Martin of Windsor.

Loving grandchildren Stephen, Amy, Katelyn, Chantal, Danielle and Jeramy.

Dear stepfather of Allison O’Neill and Chris of Brampton and Helen O’Neill of Brampton.

Step-grandfather of Shane and Amber.

Brother of Marcel Lefrancois of Windsor and Raymond Lefrancois and wife Helen of Belle River.

Gerry is also survived by his nieces, nephews and their families.

Predeceased by sister-in-law Pearl Lefrancois.

Cremation has taken place.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Belle River.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the England Funeral Home, Mount Forest.

Everett ‘Pep’ Franklin Martin

Everett “Pep” Franklin Martin, who proudly served Canada in WW II, was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Durham Branch 308, worked for the Woodstock and Tillsonburg OPP, retiring on May 27, 1977 to hobby farming in the Holstein area for 40 years, passed away peacefully with all family members at his side at Royal Terrace Nursing Home on Jan. 6, 2013 in his 98th year.

Survived by his wife of 71 years, May Louise (nee Handcock).

Father of Joan Martin and her very close and dear friend Shirley Carpenter, Randy and his partner Louise Connelly, and Dennis Martin and his wife Esther.

Grandfather of Dawn (Chris), Craig (Shannon), Jennifer (Scott) and Jason (Kim). Great-grandfather of Gordie, Jake, Wylie, Caden, Sydney, Emma, Elly, Dylan, Ryan.

Also survived by his half-sister Lois McIntosh and her husband Ross, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Predeceased by siblings Alice Martin, Ella Francis and Merv Martin.

Today (Wednesday, Jan. 9) at the Amos Dromore Presbyterian Church, Dromore, there will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted, followed by a reception in the church hall.

On Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S., St. Marys there will be a visitation from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed by interment in the St. Marys Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Poppy Fund at your local Royal Canadian Legion.
