The Mount Forest and District Chamber of Commerce “Try Us First!” Christmas shopping promotion is shaping up to be the best yet, David Ford told chamber members at their annual Christmas dinner last week.

The “Christmas Holiday Shopping Guide 2012” was delivered to area homes early last month. The 35-page glossy booklet includes shopping deals and events as well as holiday tips, cool gift ideas, recipes and special events. “Try Us First!” has also been promoted on local radio stations and in local newspapers.

“This is your opportunity to truly enjoy shopping in a great small town environment, with friendly businesses who genuinely appreciate your business,” the Mount Forest and area holiday promotions committee says in the booklet.

Participating retailers have ballots, which they have been distributing to shoppers since mid-November. A draw will be held on Dec. 22 to award the grand prize of a RCA 46-inch slim LED TV and 28-inch RCA Home Theater Soundbar.

Chamber $$$ are also being given away, as well as gift certificates from the Mount Forest District Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Ford reminded the chamber members to be “pushing not only the guide but the ballots for the draws.”

In his president’s address, Shawn McLeod praised Chamber Office Administrator Crystal Seifried for her “tireless efforts” which he said can be seen in everything the chamber does. He noted that Ms. Seifried would be celebrating her birthday on the weekend and the chamber members burst into a spontaneous chorus of “Happy Birthday.”

“If you’d like to be involved in this happy group, you can always be a director,” he said. The next executive meeting will be held Dec. 11.

The Mount Forest and District Chamber of Commerce Christmas dinner was held at The Spot restaurant and featured hors d’oeuvres, a full turkey dinner and an array of desserts.
