Optimists helping out Santa

Walkerton Herald-Times

While Santa will make his annual trip around the world on Christmas Eve, The Walkerton & District Optimist Club is hoping to again help local families and children have a merrier Christmas.

The club is collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children ranging from infant to teenager for local families.

More than 40 families and 60 children were helped from last year’s donations.

Donation boxes are at Marlin Travel, BMO, Andrew’s Place, Kaufman’s valu-mart and The Red Apple until Dec. 17.

Checking out the early donations were, from left, Optimists past president Connie Weber, Nicole Leavoy, and president Jeromy Wilhelm.
